Colleen is a multi-lingual arts writer and enthusiast. Inspired by concepts related to tea ceremony, she is interested in the idea of every day living as a total work of art. Currently assisting in various contemporary art spaces in Melbourne and contributing to local publications. She hopes to expand her experience in arts management and further her research into the laws and policies that guide the international arts trade. Colleen is completing a Master of Arts and Cultural Management at the University of Melbourne.

Metaverse Makeovers LIVE is experienced as immersive virtual manicures re-purposed for nail bars, salons, and clubs.
Our Metaverse Nails appcessories are applied by nail technicians and hostesses trained in the application of our virtual manicure treatments; playing out as intimate, tactile, face-to-face encounters between audience/participant and nail technician/Hologram Hostess.
Dazzling augmented reality designs and virtual manicures illuminate iPads and iPhones; are streamed to Audio-Visual screens and broadcast infrastructure; and simulcast live to the net in a shimmering televisual scene.

Metaverse Makeovers (LIVE) – is now MULTIPLAYER - and will be experienced as virtual manicures simultaneously taking place in nail bars in Darwin and Sydney. Broadcast as live streams to urban public screens in both cities. HERE onto our website. ALL via our leopard print Metaverse Nails appcessories.
Through a period of community engagement in Sydney and Darwin, the MM team will restyle nail salon technicians as our Hologram Hostesses – training them up on how to apply our Metaverse Nails appcessories: wearable stick-on nails that interact with a 3D game app. Playing out as intimate, tactile, face-to-face encounters between audiences/participants and nail technicians/the Metaverse World.
Metaverse Makeovers (LIVE) is part of The Portals, a program of five telematic artworks linking the two cities of Darwin and Sydney for ISEA 2013. The project connects these two communities in realtime through networked and interactive artworks which require the physics of high speed broadband.

No programming experience needed, just a smartphone and a laptop with blender, as the focus was on AR techniques over software implementations.

While in Shanghai for the tour of Metaverse Makeovers to JUE Festival in 2012, we ran into multi-instrumentalist musician Courtney Wing, and decided to turn him into a virtual idol for his performance at the flagship Shanghai Apple Store that evening.
6 short hours later and laser-surfing iPad-app – Wing was ready to join his doppelganger at the gig.
